We’re very excited about playing at Friction Fest at Berghain, Berlin!
Thanks to everyone who made it down to CAMP for our London show, we had a great time and managed to rupture our collective eardrums. It was a fantastic experience and we can’t wait to do it again, so whether you were there or you heard about it during a Twitter break in between Partypoker.de games, we’d love to see you there next time. Onwards to Germany for our April tour!
We’ve uploaded the new album to soundcloud for full length previews.
“These five pieces play out like elegies for a civilisation that’s withered and died, and it’s a function The Winchester Club perform really f***ing well.” 4/5 – KERRANG
“They dive into ambient doom, and Negative Liberty is quite brilliant.” – CLASSIC ROCK
“Negative Liberty is a delicate trek of inexorable beauty.” 8/10 - DROP-D MUSIC MAGAZINE
“Absorbing and impossible to escape.” – THE SKINNY
“The Winchester Club have definitely moved their sound into gloriously dark territory…an incredibly involving, coherent album.” – BOOMKAT
“The metaphoric picture of sinking into music is often used but rarely so adequately perfect as a description like it is for this album…an absolutely outstanding release.” – THE MUSIC FIX
“Negative Liberty is a beautifully measured and masterfully arranged work… a truly beautiful journey in sound.” 8/10 – WHISPERIN’ AND A HOLLERIN’
Here’s another preview from our new album, with some visuals from the live backdrop.
Our new album received some very positive vibes from Malcolm Dome at Classic Rock Magazine:
“The Winchester Club are a musicians collective, closely allied in spirit to Sunn 0))) and Earth. They dive into ambient doom, and Negative Liberty (Exile On Mainstream) is quite brilliant. Just lose yourself in soundscapes that are really jam sessions. This album is addictive.”

We are proud to announce the release of our second full-length album – ‘Negative Liberty’ in March.
The album was recorded at Helicopter Studios in Dresden during the summer of 2010 and produced back at our home studios throughout the second half of the year.
Tracklisting:
1. Fuck You Buddy
2. The Lonely Robot
3. RD Laing (Little Chemical Straightjackets)
4. The End of History
5. Negative Liberty
The album draws inspiration from Adam Curtis’ highly acclaimed documentary series “The Trap”, which examines the more ominous and obscure side of human behaviour. What resulted was an overall darker and heavier album, which reflected the way we were playing live.
“Negative Liberty” is released by Exile On Mainstream Records on 25 February 2011 (Germany) and on 21 March 2011 (UK + Europe), on both CD and vinyl formats, and as digital downloads. The CD will be packaged in a special card box, with a series of art cards which draw from the themes and imagery of “The Trap”.
